We are trying Key Press's "Key to" workbooks. My son is now asking to do his math. He loves the "Key to" workbooks. With Saxon he would always groan whenever it was time to do math. Now he can't wait to do some math problems.

Have you every had days when you just wanted to throw out the curriculum you bought and start from scratch? This is how I am feeling at this moment. I feel like tossing out my 13 year old's Saxon and Hake’s Grammar and Writing curriculums. Maybe I should just put my own curriculum together.

Total Solar Elipse

My sons had a great time quizzing each other on Astronomy.  My 13 year old son loves learning about the planets and the galaxy. He is also interested in the Solar (Sun) Eclipse and the Lunar (Moon) Eclipse. In a Solar  Eclipse, the Moon is blocking the Sun. The next Total Solar Eclipse (North America) will take place on August 21, 2017.

My family went on a field trip today. It was "Dollar Day" at the Dallas Zoo, and we had a great time! Hopefully the pictures come out so I can post them later.

My college son is coming home for Thanksgiving, so there is going to be a lot of cooking around here to feed just him. LOL

My children learned that there are different types of cancers. Even if the cancer spreads, the type of cancer a person has is determined by where it originated. So.....although my father died from brain cancer, it was still labeled as skin cancer.

We have been homeschooling since August, 2008. The public school system was not able to provide the individual attention my son needed to be successful. I am so glad we decided to homeschool our ds. His behavior and his academics have improved a lot.

However, it has not been an easy journey. My children have lost a grandfather (my dad) from brain cancer in 2007. In addition, they have recently learned that their grandmother has been diagnosed with lung cancer. This is a lot for young children to endure. However, I know that we will make it with the Lord's help.
